AX
Ax is the alien of the group. He's an Andalite and he's Elfangor's (he's the one who gave them the morphing power on the first place) little brother. He is also Tobias' uncle. His real name is Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill.
He was in the Dome's (a big Andalite ship) dome ship when the dome was separated from the rest of the ship. The dome then came crashing to Earth and landed in the ocean. He sent out a sort of distress call by thought speak and Cassie and Tobias heard it while the others felt it. The Animorphs all (but Tobias who didn't have his morphing power then) morphed dolphins and rescued Ax from the ship right before the Yeerks got him.
Ax lives in a scoop (a Andalite house) which no human can see and which he packs down when not in their. The scoop is in Tobias' meadow near the edge of Cassie's property.
His main morph is a human morph made up of Jake's, Marco's, Cassie's and Rachel's DNA. In human morph he has to be watched very carefully as for instance Andalites have no mouths so taste is a complete new experience. After a while he learns what to eat and what not to eat (he discovers there is a long list of things not to eat). He also thinks walking with two legs is silly but soon gets used to it. And when talking (Andalites communicate through thought speak which is what the Animorphs use when in morph) he plays with all the sounds. He has accompanied the Animorphs to their houses and school dances. After a while he becomes a complete human expert.
He is straightforward, very clever with no sense of humour when he first arrives on Earth (he's funny anyway) but towards the end of the war he develops a slight sense of humor. He has trouble understanding many human concepts (especially walking with only two legs) but has books given to him to read so he can understand better (e.g. The World Almanac). Over time he becomes an expert on humans and when he is reunited with Andalites he becomes a hero and the human expert for Andalites.
His nicknames are Ax-man and Horse Boy. Ax-man was invented by Tobias and is regularly used. Horse Boy came from the fact that Andalites look like a horse with human head and torso apart from the two stalk eyes on their heads, They also have a tail a bit like a scorpion and are covered with blue and tan fur.
He misses his family very much but after a while accepts that he has to be with humans now and tells them everything he about the Andalite customs, how they eat, how they live and even about their laws and Seerow's Kindness (which is forbidden).
