TOBIAS
Tobias is the group's nothlit and lost soul. He's also the most unusual and Ax's shorm. Nothlit is an Andalite term meaning you are trapped in a body apart from your own. Tobias is trapped in a red tailed hawk's body. Shorm is an Andalite term for someone who is more than a friend. So in other words a shorm is pretty much a best friend. Ax and Tobias are shorms because of the fact that Tobias is one of a kind person and Ax is miles away from his family and any other uninfested Andalite. Also strangely enough Ax is Tobias' uncle (explain later). Tobias' other good friend is Rachel, his girlfriend. Their relationship is a bit strange but they both like each other.
Tobias is a bit of a dreamer but he is very thoughtful. He is also caring and instinctive. When he was human he was a bully target always getting bullied but since he became a hawk he's become stronger. That's mainly because he now lives the life of a predator killing what he eats (mice, shrews etc) protecting his territory etc. Also when he's in human morph he doesn't use facial expressions much because a hawk doesn't. The only way he can communicate is through thought speak and the only reason he can morph is because the Ellimist gave him back his morphing powers and took him back in time to acquire his human DNA. When he first received his morphing power for the second time he had the trouble of making the decision of whether he stayed as a hawk or trap himself as a human. He decided he would stay as a hawk (as much as Rachel tried to get him to trap himself in human morph) so he could stay in the fight.
His specialty morph is obviously the red tailed hawk. He loves the feeling of flying and the speed when diving. He also loves a cat's liquid grace. Since he was without morphing power for ages he did not experience many insects apart from flies which are alright and he does enjoys most of his other morphs although because of the hawk's instincts he doesn't always enjoy being in the water.
When he was human he was moved back and forth between his aunt who didn't care a bit about him and his uncle who was an alcoholic. He had a tough life as his 'father' died and his mother disappeared when he was little. Later on Tobias finds his mum Loren. Unfortunately she couldn't remember Tobias thanks to a car accident which made her loose her memory and become blind. But things changed. To rescue Loren (the Yeerks knew who see was and was after her) Tobias let her acquire the morphing power and she morphed a red tailed hawk. After demorphing her sight was restored but unfortunately not her memory.
His 'father' who died was not his real father, but Tobias' stepfather! His real father was Elfangor, Ax's brother and the one who gave them their morphing power in the first place. This happened because Elfangor ran away from the Andalites after a hard battle and went to Earth were he trapped himself in a human morph. Also out in space he had met Loren who had been kidnapped by a race of aliens. On Earth he went to college and when Loren turned 18 they got married. His life was perfect. Until the Ellimist interfered. He took Elfangor off Earth and restored his Andalite body because the Ellimist said Elfangor had messed things up and that he should be at this battle in particular. So Elfangor went and Loren's memory was erased of him. One problem, Loren was pregnant with a boy. The Ellimist said to Elfangor (who wanted to go back) that the boy would be raised as someone else's child. That boy was Tobias who didn't find out for ages. The only reason he found out was because the Ellimist let Elfangor write one last letter to his son explaining everything which Tobias read on about his 14th birthday.
His nickname is Bird-Boy because that's what he is. A bird and a boy mixed together.
His hobbies are mainly day dreaming, reading and when in human morph hanging around the mall playing video games. Also to take up time during school days when there's no mission he often watches known Yeerk controllers or looks for new entrances to Yeerk pools. He also spends some of his time in the colony of the free Hork-Bajir with his namesake Toby, Jara Hamee and Ket Delpak.
